What we collect
- Your account. Your name, email address, date of birth, country and WhatsApp number. If you choose, a photo, a short bio, your work and your interests. Your password is stored only as a secure hash.
- Google sign-in. If you continue with Google, Google shares your name, email address and basic profile with us. We never receive your Google password.
- Your bookings. The date, time and length, the plan, the meeting area, the number of guests, the price, the status, arrival and finish times, your messages with your Local Host, and any review you leave.
- Questions to our team. What you write to support or the Elite Desk, any photo or voice note you attach, and your location if you choose to share it.
- Local Host applications. Profile details, 3 to 10 photos and an optional introduction video. Our team checks each Local Host's identity document against their face and records the result.
- Technical details. Your IP address, browser and device, used to keep the site secure and working, and the pages you visit when analytics are switched on (see the Cookie Policy).
Why we use it
- To arrange your bookings and send you what you need about them by email, WhatsApp and, if you allow them, notifications.
- To keep travellers and Local Hosts safe, and to look into anything reported to us.
- To answer your questions, in person or with an automated draft built only from our own notes.
- To understand which pages help travellers, and to improve them.
- To send news and offers, only if you have said yes. That choice is off until you turn it on.
- To meet our legal obligations.
Who sees it
- Your Local Host. Your first name and the first letter of your last name, the booking details and your notes. Your phone number is shown to them, and theirs to you, only from the moment they accept until the payment is confirmed.
- Your Trusted Contacts. If you create a share link, anyone with it can see your first name, your Local Host's name, the date, time, length and meeting area, the status, and your arrival and finish times.
- Our team. The people who arrange bookings, answer questions and handle safety cases.
- Services that run parts of Elite Trip. Our hosting provider; our email and WhatsApp delivery services; Google for sign-in; and, only where we switch them on, analytics, error reports (sent without cookies, email or IP addresses) and the AI service that drafts Elite Desk answers from the text of your question.
- When the law requires it. Or when someone's safety depends on it.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.
How long we keep it
- Your account stays while it is open. When you close it, we remove your name, email, phone number, date of birth, country, bio, work, interests and photos, and keep the booking history under an anonymous record.
- A request you start before signing in is stored encrypted and deleted after about 2 hours if you do not finish it.
- A password reset link works for 60 minutes and is deleted 7 days after it is used or expires.
- Local Host applications that are declined or withdrawn are reviewed for deletion after 180 days.
- Other records stay as long as a booking, a safety case, a dispute or the law needs them.
Keeping it safe
Passwords and reset links are stored only as secure hashes. Your sign-in cookie cannot be read by scripts on the page. When we record a consent, we keep a hash of your IP address rather than the address itself. No system is perfectly secure, so tell us at once if you think your account has been used by someone else.
Your choices
- Download a copy of your data from your dashboard, as a file you can keep.
- Close your account from your dashboard. If a booking still needs you, finish or cancel it first.
- Turn booking emails and news on or off in your dashboard, or from the link at the foot of our emails.
- Turn notifications off at any time in your browser.
- Ask us to correct anything that is wrong. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights, including the right to complain to a data protection authority.
